Husband and wife duo hailing from Milan, Ohio, Hooked Like Helen shares new single ‘No Turning back’ available on all platforms 8 March as part of upcoming EP Tragedy of Physics set to be released on 17 May and co-produced with grammy award-winning mixer, engineer and producer Isha Erskine; known for his work with acts like Ziggy Marley, Maroon 5 and Black Eyed Peas.

The duo, namely Nikki and Jonathan Stipp have proven to be a match made in more than just matrimony. Jonathan was brought up on punk rock till his interest moved him to join a band of his own as a teenager; An emo act called Trees Are Tall and then later Red Circle Underground on their SXSW tour. The tour on which he met the other half of Hooked Like Helen, Nikki, who just happens to live with Chromesthesia. If you’re unaware of its meaning, is the condition where one experiences sound visually through colour, shapes and patterns. A condition that’s been known to give affected musicians quite the edge. Just ask Skrillex.

Together the two have fuzed their unique artistic expressions to create the eccentrically presented warm and whimsical sound of Hooked like Helen. The perfect example of which lays within the their latest release ‘No Turning Back’, a song the duo swears took only a weekend to create, after approached by High Strung: Free Dance director Michael Damian to be featured in the film trailer.

The song tells the story of passion for one’s craft, dreaming big and running towards those dreams full-steam ahead and without reservation. It’s an inspiration song for driven, creative spirits who refuse to let anything stop them living out their dreams. All woven together with the quirky dance-off between Nikki’s mix of breathy to strong vocals, then back and forth again and around the confident rolling drum beats, playful piano and a sophisticated bass sound to create this alt-pop self-discovery anthem.
